Professor of Economics at Arizona State University and a Member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He received his PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1971. His reseach interests include comparative economic systems, economic growth, corporate governance, international trade and the role of corruption in international investment and finance.

 Paul Wachtel is a professor of economics and the Jules Backman Faculty Research Fellow at New York University Stern School of Business. He teaches courses in monetary policy, banking and central banking and global macro. His primary areas of research include monetary policy, central banking, and financial sector reform in economies in transition. He has been a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, a senior economic advisor to the East West Institute, and a consultant to the Bank of Israel, the IMF and the World Bank.
