The Association awards the Montias Prize for the best paper published in the previous two years in the Journal of Comparative Economics. The Prize is named after Professor J. Michael Montias, who was the founding editor of the journal and who guided its development for the first ten years of its existence. The Prize carries with it an award of $5,000 to the author(s) of the selected article. Past Montias Prize Winners:

The Association also awards the Bergson Prize, in memory of Professor Abram Bergson, for the best paper published during the past two years in Comparative Economic Studies. The Prize carries with it an award of $5,000 to the author(s) of the selected article. The first winner of the Bergson Prize will be announced at the Association's Membership Meeting in Atlanta, january 2010.
