The Association for Comparative Economic Studies (ACES) is the leading scholarly organization for the support of comparative economic studies.  Its world-wide membership includes academics, economists, and political scientists employed by international agencies and private firms and banks, as well policy makers.  The purpose of the Association is to provide scholarly exchange among persons interested in comparative studies of economic systems, planning and development, and to further the growth of research and instruction on these topics past, present, and future.  ACES proudly maintains two leading journals in the field, Comparative Economic Studies and the Journal of Comparative Economics.

aces affiliate network

The ACES maintains a robust network of scholars from across continents, fields, organizations, and professional titles. We maintain this connection through an Affiliate Network connected by mailing lists, opportunities for education and professional development, and conferences. The ACES Affiliate Network is free to join and includes many of the benefits members have always enjoyed:

Our network includes rosters of current and former members, Summer School alumni and applicants, and past recipients and finalists for our annual Dissertation Fellowship.

To join our Affiliate Network, you can simply email our Coordinator of Membership Services, Brian Deutsch, here to request to join. We would also encourage you to complete our Affiliate form by answering a few questions about your institution and background.

Paid Membership

Those interested may also wish to enjoy a paid membership to ACES. This membership carries with it all benefits of Affiliation, but paid members may also choose delivery of the two ACES journals---Comparative Economic Studies and the Journal of Comparative Economics---to a mailing address, or online access of journals (for those who do not have free access through their institution). The costs for these memberships are:

Those who do not require access to the journals through the institution, or who do not wish to make a financial contribution at this time, may find our free Affiliation level more appropriate. Members who have already paid will retain this level of membership for the duration of their term.

Paid memberships run through the calendar year, from the date of purchase through December 31. Those who wish to purchase a paid membership may do so by following the instructions below to submit their member information and their payment.

HOW TO JOIN

To join our Affiliate Network, you can simply email our Coordinator of Membership Services, Brian Deutsch, here to request to join. We would also encourage you to complete our Affiliate form by answering a few questions about your institution and background.

To join ACES as a paid member, please complete a membership form and submit the annual membership dues.  Membership forms can be completed online.  Membership dues may also be paid online (in tandem with the membership form).  Please note: annual membership is for the year in which it is paid and not a year from the date of payment.  For example, someone who joins and pays on August 1, 2024 will remain a member through December 31, 2024, and not through August 1, 2025.

First, please complete the membership form online.  Please note, you do not need to submit a new membership form if you are renewing from a previous year. Only new members, or members for whom information has changed, need to submit this membership form.

Next, please submit the annual membership dues.  The payment of $75 per year includes subscriptions to both the Journal of Comparative Economics and Comparative Economic Studies, and members will have the option to receive the physical journals delivered to their mailing address or online access via their email address.   These payments may be made online with a credit card via Paypal; please see this set of step-by-step instructions.  Payment is also available by check made payable to ACES and mailed to the Coordinator of Membership Services:

Please also note, if you are simply renewing your membership, you do not need to complete the membership form again unless your information has changed (such as a new email address, a new institution).  You can simply pay the annual dues as described above.

Please contact Brian Deutsch  with any questions or concerns.

Proof of membership

Once someone completes the registration form and submits payment they are from that moment a member of ACES.  There are no additional steps and there is no further investigation or application.  Should you require proof of membership for a publisher, you may upload the Paypal receipt.  ACES sends our publishers regular updates to our list of members, and your receipt plus your appearance on this list will suffice for this purpose.  Please contact Brian Deutsch, Coordinator of Membership Services, with any questions or concerns, or if you require us to create a custom document of for you.
